I took this around sunset one weekday night in Bangkok in early June. The place is called Sirocco, and it’s on top of a skyscraper, and they charge outlandish prices for drinks but the view is almost worth it. It took me a long time to find, as I had been thinking of a completely different rooftop bar, and it was very hot and muggy so of course I was just covered in grime and sweat. Finally things slowed down and we could breathe. We were happy, celebrating, but also nervous.
We have nothing to add to this. ”A Tunisian demonstrator holds his bread stick like a weapon in front of riot police during a protest against the country’s new government in Tunis on January 18, 2011. Riot police fired tear gas and clashed with protesters on January 18 at a small protest rally against Tunisia’s new government in the centre of the capital, AFP reporters on the ground saw. Around 100 protesters chanted slogans against the RCD party of ousted president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. ‘We can live on bread and water alone but not with the RCD,’ they said. Riot police dispersed the rally — one of several expected on Tuesday. AFP PHOTO / FRED DUFOUR”

I just can’t bear looking back at that black-haired, post-crack-skinny, arrogant twerp. I’ve said elsewhere that I “had” to be arrogant to get through the day but looking at this guy (me) eleven years ago, not fifty dollars to my name, unpaid rent hanging over my head, years of back taxes and credit card debt, no real accomplishments (and plenty of wasted advantages) to my credit….and I thought, already, that I knew everything. Standing there in my restaurant, my first real book newly situated on the best seller list—and I was clueless. I had no idea—no IDEA what kind of tractor trailer was headed down the pike and straight up my ass. I see a guy standing on the precipice…and my instinct is (after slapping him a few times) to yell back at him. Warn him. But what would I tell him? And would I have listened?
I totally respect this guy - I would probably do the same. Why do such asshole passengers fly on JetBlue?

Wolf Parade - Ghost Pressure. It seems like I only half-way like this band, but I continue trying to not be annoyed by his voice.
